The Summer 2026 edition of the EPND e-newsletter marks a turning point for the project. EPND has entered the final year of its IMI funding period, and work is well underway to secure the future of the platform, with plans for sustainability expected in October. Since its launch, the EPND Hub has continued to grow, and its catalogue now includes over 120 research studies, 126 datasets and 38 biosample collections, supported by the ELSI Support Desk.

This issue puts the spotlight on our biomarker case studies: studies run by EPND to answer open questions in neurodegeneration research, each leaving behind a harmonised dataset that can be reused. We feature the four new datasets from the Complement case study, now requestable through the Hub, and an interview with Aurore Delvenne, who used our case study proteomics data to trace the role of the choroid plexus across Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and dementia with Lewy bodies.

This edition also welcomes the PRISM2 dataset, spanning Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia and major depressive disorder, and profiles the study with its lead, Martien Kas of the University of Groningen. We round up EPND partner contributions at the 2026 Alzheimer's Association International Conference in London, share the interim report of our Patient Expert Group on what people with dementia and Parkinson's disease expect from data and biosample sharing, and mark the launch of ACCESS-AD, the Innovative Health Initiative programme advancing timely diagnosis and equitable treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
